The Bow Arts Centre is located in an iconic brutalist building situated on the South Mere Lake - famous for its skyline and once the backdrop for films including 'A Clockwork Orange' and the television series 'Misfits'.
With a view to providing 38 affordable arts studios for hire ranging from 12 square metres to 100 square metres, the site offers an exciting opportunity to be actively part of creating a cultural enterprise in the heart of Thamesmead.
Key issues involved:
- Timber brutalism and the approach to design of the facade.
- Identifying the best approach to obtaining planning permission.
- Access and security.
- Mix and repeatability of accommodation.
Mensura were engaged to provide Cost Planning services for this first-class project throughout RIBA Stages 1 and 2. The project is being delivered in multiple phases.
